Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how Kritexa Labs uses them on the website at www.kritexalabs.com, what information they collect, why we use them, and how you can control your cookie preferences.
This policy is specifically about cookies and similar tracking technologies. For information about how we handle personal information more broadly, please see our Privacy Policy.
Honest disclosure: This Cookie Policy describes only technologies that are actually in use on the Kritexa Labs website. Currently, we use a consent-gated implementation of Meta Pixel (a Meta Platforms advertising and measurement technology) that is classified as Marketing/Advertising and is disabled by default. It is loaded only after you provide explicit Marketing consent through our cookie consent banner. If our technology stack changes, this policy will be updated before any new technology is deployed.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit the site. Cookies are placed by the website's server and sent back to the server each time you make a subsequent request, allowing the server to recognise your device and remember certain information about your visit.
Cookies were originally designed to help websites deliver better user experiences by remembering preferences, maintaining session state, and enabling websites to understand how visitors use the site. They are now an integral part of how most websites function.
Cookies are not programs and cannot execute code. They cannot carry viruses or install software on your device. They are simply text data files read and written by your browser according to instructions from the web server.
In addition to cookies, there are other client-side storage technologies — such as browser local storage, session storage, and IndexedDB — that function similarly to cookies by storing data in your browser. Where Kritexa Labs uses such technologies, they are also covered by this policy.
2. Why Kritexa Labs Uses Cookies
Kritexa Labs uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Essential website operation: To ensure the website functions correctly, including maintaining navigation, form functionality, and site security
- Security: To help protect the website and its visitors from security threats such as cross-site request forgery and session hijacking
- Authentication: To maintain your authenticated session when you are logged into a Kritexa Labs platform or service portal, so you do not need to log in again on every page
- User preferences: To remember choices or settings you have made that improve your experience of the website
- Analytics: To understand how visitors use the website — including which pages are visited most, how visitors navigate, and where technical errors occur — so we can improve the quality and relevance of the site
- Performance: To measure and optimise the technical performance of the website
Kritexa Labs does not use cookies to build personal advertising profiles, to track users across third-party websites for retargeting purposes, or for behavioural advertising — unless explicitly disclosed and consented to.
3. Session Cookies
A session cookie is a temporary cookie that is stored only for the duration of your current browser session. Session cookies are deleted from your device automatically when you close your browser.
Session cookies are used on the Kritexa Labs website to:
- Maintain the continuity of your browsing session — for example, keeping you on the same page as you navigate through the site
- Support form submissions — preserving form state as you complete and submit a form
- Enable security features that protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks during your active session
- Support authenticated sessions on Kritexa Labs platforms during your active login session
Session cookies do not persist on your device after your browser is closed and therefore do not accumulate over time. They are the most privacy-respecting form of cookie from a persistence perspective.
4. Persistent Cookies
A persistent cookie remains on your device after you close your browser, until it either expires (reaches its set expiry date) or is manually deleted by you. Persistent cookies enable a website to recognise your device on a return visit.
On the Kritexa Labs website, persistent cookies may be used for:
- Remembering your consent or preference choices so you are not asked the same question each time you visit
- Analytics — to distinguish between new and returning visitors and to analyse visit patterns over time
- Maintaining a "remember me" authentication session where you have chosen this option on a Kritexa Labs platform
Persistent cookies are set with defined expiry periods. When an expiry period is reached, the browser automatically deletes the cookie. You may also delete persistent cookies at any time through your browser settings.
5. First-Party Cookies
First-party cookies are cookies set directly by the Kritexa Labs website (i.e., by the domain www.kritexalabs.com or an associated subdomain operated by Kritexa Labs). They can only be read by the Kritexa Labs website and are not shared with other websites.
Most of the cookies used on the Kritexa Labs website are first-party cookies. These include:
- Session management cookies set by the Kritexa Labs web server
- Security tokens and CSRF-protection cookies
- Authentication cookies for Kritexa Labs platforms and portals
- User preference cookies
- Cookie-consent preference records
First-party cookies give Kritexa Labs direct control over what data is collected and how it is used, and they do not involve third-party data sharing by their nature.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Third-party cookies are cookies set by a domain other than www.kritexalabs.com — typically by third-party services that are embedded in or loaded by the Kritexa Labs website, such as analytics scripts, embedded media players, or font services.
Kritexa Labs' use of third-party cookies is described in this policy. Where third-party scripts or services set cookies, those cookies are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of those third parties, not by Kritexa Labs.
Honest disclosure: Kritexa Labs only describes third-party cookie technologies in this policy if they are genuinely present on the website. We do not include a list of widely-used third-party tools unless they are actually deployed. If you use a browser extension to inspect cookies, you may be able to see the cookies set by the Kritexa Labs website in real time.
7. Strictly Necessary Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are essential for the website to function. Without them, core features of the website — such as navigation, form submission, and page security — would not work correctly.
Strictly necessary cookies used on the Kritexa Labs website may include:
- Server session cookies: Used to maintain a consistent session as you navigate between pages of the website
- CSRF tokens: Security tokens included in form submissions to protect against cross-site request forgery attacks — these are submitted with the form data and verified by the server
- Load-balancer affinity cookies: Where the website is served from multiple servers, these cookies ensure your requests are consistently routed to the same server during a session
Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent under applicable law because they are technically required for the website to operate. They cannot be disabled without breaking the website's core functionality.
Strictly necessary cookies do not collect personal information for marketing or analytics purposes. The information they contain is used only to operate the website during your visit.
8. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies enable enhanced functionality on the website — remembering choices you have made so the website can provide a more personalised experience. Unlike strictly necessary cookies, the website can operate without functional cookies, but your experience may be reduced.
Examples of functional cookie use on the Kritexa Labs website include:
- Remembering your cookie consent or preference settings so you are not repeatedly shown the same consent prompts
- Remembering whether you have dismissed an informational banner or notification so it is not shown to you again
- Storing display preferences if the website supports multiple presentation modes
Functional cookies collect information about choices you have made and store them for a defined period. They are specific to the Kritexa Labs website and the choices you have made there.
9. Analytics and Performance Cookies
Analytics cookies collect information about how visitors use the Kritexa Labs website. This information is used to understand visitor behaviour, identify popular content, discover technical problems, and improve the overall quality and performance of the website.
Typical information collected by analytics cookies includes:
- Pages visited and the order in which they were visited
- Time spent on each page
- The referring website or source (how you arrived at the Kritexa Labs website)
- Whether you are a new or returning visitor
- Browser type, device type, and approximate geographic region (typically derived from IP address, which is then masked or anonymised)
- Technical events such as page errors, load times, and failed interactions
Analytics Technology in Use
The Kritexa Labs website uses web analytics technology to collect the information described above. Analytics data is collected primarily in aggregated form and is used for website improvement purposes. Where analytics tools process personal data (such as IP addresses), we take steps to configure them in a privacy-respecting manner where available, including IP anonymisation settings where supported.
Analytics cookies are generally persistent cookies with defined expiry periods. You may opt out of analytics cookies through your browser controls as described in Section 16.
What We Do Not Do
Analytics data collected through the Kritexa Labs website is not:
- Used to build profiles on individual users for advertising purposes
- Shared with advertising networks or third-party data brokers
- Combined with personally identifiable information for profiling purposes
10. Security Cookies
Security cookies are cookies used specifically to protect the website and its users from security threats. These may include:
- CSRF protection tokens: As described in Section 7, these are short-lived tokens embedded in forms and checked by the server to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks — where a malicious third-party website tricks your browser into submitting an unintended request to the Kritexa Labs server
- Rate-limiting cookies: Used to track and limit the rate of requests from a particular device to protect against automated abuse or denial-of-service attempts
- Fraud-detection cookies: Used to detect unusual or potentially fraudulent patterns of behaviour, such as multiple rapid form submissions from the same device
Security cookies may be strictly necessary (as described in Section 7) or may be functional in nature. They do not collect personal information for marketing purposes and are used solely to protect the integrity and security of the website and its interactions.
11. Authentication Cookies
Authentication cookies are used to maintain your logged-in state when you access a Kritexa Labs platform, dashboard, or service portal that requires authentication. These cookies allow the platform to recognise that you have already authenticated and are authorised to access the relevant resources, so you do not need to re-enter your credentials on every page request.
Authentication cookies on Kritexa Labs platforms:
- Are set when you successfully log in to a Kritexa Labs platform or portal
- Contain a session token or reference identifier — not your actual password or credentials
- Are marked as
HttpOnlyandSecurewhere technically supported, which means they cannot be accessed by client-side JavaScript and are only transmitted over HTTPS connections - Expire automatically at the end of your session (session cookies) or after a defined inactivity period (persistent "remember me" cookies where that feature is offered)
You should always log out of Kritexa Labs platforms when you have finished your session, particularly on shared or public devices, to ensure that authentication cookies are invalidated and cannot be used by another person accessing the same device after you.
12. Preference Cookies
Preference cookies store choices you have made about the website's presentation or behaviour, so that those choices are remembered on future visits. On the Kritexa Labs website, preference cookies may store:
- Your cookie consent and preference choices (to avoid prompting you repeatedly)
- Any display preferences or settings you have configured
- Preferences you have set within a Kritexa Labs platform or dashboard
Preference cookies are set only in response to choices you actively make. They do not track your browsing behaviour across multiple sessions for profiling purposes.
13. Local Storage and Similar Technologies
In addition to cookies, web browsers support other client-side storage mechanisms that can store information on your device:
Local Storage
Local storage is a browser feature that allows websites to store data on your device without an expiry date (unlike session storage which is cleared when the browser tab is closed). Local storage data is not sent to the server with every request like cookies are, but can be accessed by the website's JavaScript code.
Kritexa Labs may use browser local storage to store:
- User interface state and preferences within a Kritexa Labs platform or web application
- Cached data to improve the performance of web applications
- Temporary data required for specific application features
Session Storage
Session storage works similarly to local storage but is cleared automatically when the browser tab is closed. It is used for temporary data that should not persist between browsing sessions, such as form state within a multi-step process.
IndexedDB and Cache API
More complex web applications may use browser IndexedDB or Cache API for storing larger amounts of structured data or application resources locally. Where Kritexa Labs' web applications use these technologies, the stored data is used to support the functionality of the application and is not used for tracking or profiling purposes.
You can clear local storage, session storage, and other browser storage through your browser's developer tools or privacy settings. Clearing these will typically remove any stored preferences and may require re-authentication to Kritexa Labs platforms.
14. Cookies in Software Products and Platforms
Where Kritexa Labs operates software-as-a-service platforms, client dashboards, web applications, or other web-based products, those applications may use cookies and browser storage technologies as described in this policy for the following purposes:
- Session management: To maintain your authenticated session within the application and ensure secure, uninterrupted access
- Application state: To maintain the state of interactive application features (for example, which tab is selected, which items are expanded, or what data is currently displayed)
- Performance: To cache frequently accessed data locally, reducing server load and improving application responsiveness
- Security: To implement CSRF protection and session security measures within the application
- User preferences: To remember application settings and display preferences configured by the user
Cookies and storage technologies used within Kritexa Labs' software products and platforms are strictly functional in nature. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking within those applications.
The specific cookies and storage technologies used in any particular product will be detailed in the documentation or settings of that product. Where a product processes personal data through cookies for any purpose beyond the functional uses described above, that will be disclosed to you within the product at the relevant time.
15. Cookie Consent
Kritexa Labs operates a cookie consent mechanism that is displayed to all visitors on their first visit to the website. The consent banner is presented before any optional tracking technology — including Meta Pixel — is initialised or loaded.
How the Consent Mechanism Works
When you first visit the website, a consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You are presented with three choices:
- Accept All: You consent to all cookie categories including Analytics and Marketing (Meta Pixel). All technologies are then enabled.
- Reject Non-Essential: Only strictly necessary and security cookies are used. No optional tracking — including Meta Pixel — is loaded or initialised.
- Manage Preferences: Opens a detailed preferences panel where you can independently enable or disable each category (Analytics; Marketing & Advertising). Each optional category is disabled by default.
Cookie Categories
- Essential: Always active. Required for basic website functionality. Cannot be disabled. No consent required.
- Analytics: Optional. Disabled by default. Requires your explicit consent. Helps understand how visitors use the website.
- Marketing & Advertising: Optional. Disabled by default. Requires your explicit consent. Meta Pixel is classified in this category. Meta Pixel is never loaded, initialised, or executed before this consent is granted.
Consent Storage
Your consent choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key kl_consent. The stored record contains: your consent status (accepted / rejected / customized), the categories you have enabled, the timestamp of your choice, and the version of the consent policy. This information is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to any server. It is used solely to remember your preference so the banner does not appear on every page load.
Consent Revocation and Preferences
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of any page on the website. This opens the consent preferences panel where you can change your selections. If you withdraw Marketing consent, Meta Pixel will not be initialised on future page loads. Your updated preference is stored and takes effect immediately for subsequent pages.
What Does Not Constitute Consent
Kritexa Labs does not treat any of the following as consent to optional tracking: scrolling, clicking non-consent elements, navigating between pages, inactivity, or closing the consent banner. Consent requires an explicit positive action (clicking Accept All or enabling a category in preferences).
Legal Framework
This consent mechanism is implemented in anticipation of and in compliance with the requirements of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the IT Act, 2000, and applicable data protection principles. As further DPDP Act provisions come into force and regulatory guidance is issued, Kritexa Labs will update its consent mechanisms accordingly.
16. Browser Controls
All modern web browsers provide settings that allow you to control cookies. Through your browser settings, you can:
- View cookies: See which cookies are currently stored on your device and what information they contain
- Delete cookies: Delete all cookies or selected cookies stored on your device
- Block cookies: Configure your browser to block cookies from all websites or from specific websites
- Block third-party cookies: Configure your browser to block cookies set by third-party domains, while allowing first-party cookies from websites you visit
- Receive cookie notifications: Configure your browser to alert you before any cookie is set, giving you the option to accept or decline
Browser-specific instructions for managing cookies can be found in your browser's help documentation. Common browser help pages:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions > Cookies and Site Data
17. Disabling Cookies
You may disable cookies entirely through your browser settings. You may also selectively disable categories of cookies using your browser's cookie management tools or, where available, Kritexa Labs' cookie preference controls.
You should be aware of the following when disabling cookies:
- Disabling all cookies will prevent the Kritexa Labs website from setting any cookies, including strictly necessary cookies, which may cause parts of the website to malfunction
- Blocking third-party cookies will prevent third-party analytics or other scripts from setting cookies, but may also prevent embedded third-party content (such as embedded video players or maps) from functioning correctly
- Selectively blocking analytics or functional cookies will not prevent you from using the core informational content of the Kritexa Labs website
18. Impact of Disabling Cookies
The impact of disabling cookies depends on which cookies you disable:
Disabling Strictly Necessary Cookies
If you disable strictly necessary cookies (such as session cookies or CSRF protection tokens), the following consequences may occur:
- Form submissions may fail because security validation cannot be completed
- Navigation between pages may be disrupted
- Authentication to Kritexa Labs platforms will not be possible
Disabling Functional Cookies
If you disable functional or preference cookies:
- Your preferences and choices will not be remembered between visits
- You may be shown the same information banners or notices on each visit
Disabling Analytics Cookies
Disabling analytics cookies will prevent Kritexa Labs from collecting analytics data about your visit. The website will still function normally. Your browsing data will simply not be included in aggregate analytics reports used for website improvement.
Disabling Authentication Cookies
If you block authentication cookies, you will not be able to maintain a logged-in session on Kritexa Labs platforms and will be required to log in on every page request, which will effectively prevent normal use of those platforms.
19. Third-Party Tracking
The Kritexa Labs website currently deploys the following third-party tracking technology, subject to the consent mechanism described in Section 15:
Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.)
- Category: Marketing & Advertising
- Purpose: Used to measure advertising campaigns, understand conversions, track visitor behaviour for advertising purposes, and create relevant advertising audiences on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram).
- Data processed: When active, Meta Pixel sends information about your visit — including page URL, referrer, browser details, and events (e.g. PageView) — to Meta Platforms. Meta may associate this data with your Meta account if you are logged in. For details of Meta's data practices, see Meta's Privacy Policy.
- Default state: OFF — Meta Pixel is not loaded, not initialised, and does not send any data unless you explicitly enable the Marketing & Advertising category in the consent panel.
- Consent requirement: Your explicit opt-in consent is required before Meta Pixel is loaded or any tracking event is sent.
- Opt-out: Withdraw Marketing consent at any time via the Cookie Preferences link in the footer. Meta Pixel will not be initialised on subsequent page loads.
Where the Kritexa Labs website links to external social media platforms (such as through social media icon links), visiting those external platforms will be subject to those platforms' own cookie and tracking policies. Kritexa Labs has no control over cookies set by third-party websites you visit through links on the Kritexa Labs website.
20. Changes to Cookie Policy
Kritexa Labs may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect:
- Changes in the technologies used on the website or platforms
- Changes in applicable law or regulatory guidance relating to cookies and tracking technologies
- The addition of new third-party services that set cookies
- Improvements to our privacy and data-handling practices
When we update this policy, the "Last Updated" date will be revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically, particularly if you are concerned about specific cookies or tracking technologies.
